About the Author

Bob Short has forty years experience in real estate, during which time he has been responsible for the development of fifteen million square feet of office and related space.

After several years in industrial construction and serving as partner in charge of engineering for a major Philadelphia architectural firm, Bob was responsible for the development of two major bank headquarters-First National Bank of Chicago and Crocker National Bank in San Francisco. He was responsible for extensive land purchases and sales, and directed the expansion and upgrading of the Crocker Bank branch system.

With Cadillac Fairview and its successor company, Prentiss Properties Limited, he was responsible for such projects as First City Center, Momentum Place and Pacific Place in Dallas, 780 Third Avenue in New York and the IBM building in Clear Lake, Texas, among others. He was also responsible for a large DoubleTree hotel and a major retail development that were associated with office building projects, and major office parks in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and Fontana, California.

Since forming R. H. Short & Associates in 1991 he has directed, or consulted on, the Federal Office Building in downtown Atlanta, and projects in San Jose, Sacramento, San Diego and Oakland, California. In addition, he has evaluated major land acquisitions and taught a series of seminars on office building development.

Bob has a BSME from Purdue University, an MBA from the University of Delaware, and is a registered professional engineer and a licensed real estate broker in several states. He has served as the Chairman of BOMI Institute, a Director of NACORE, and held a series of major positions in Building Owners and Managers International and the Pennsylvania and Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.
